Find out when you can see the ISS from your home by allowing Space Station to see your postcode. Or just say the city name you want passes for. If you are outside a city, then choose one within 50 miles and timings will be close enough that you won't miss anything.
Although the International Space Station goes around the Earth every 90 minutes, it isn't usually visible to the casual observer. However there are several days most months when conditions are just right to be able to see the station with the naked eye - and that's where Space Station can help.
Space Station tells you when the ISS passes overhead at the perfect moment when it will be lit by the Sun, but not eclipsed by the Earth. When this happens, the ISS is the 3rd or 4th brightest object in the night sky and easy to see in clear weather - even in cities if it's dark enough. If possible, you'll also get a weather forecast so that you know if you'll be able to see the ISS and now Space Station will also tell you if there are two passes close together.
Alexa knows only knows big cities, therefore for best results say one that is fairly close by. Timings will be good enough that you won't miss the space station.
Here are the things you can ask Space Station:
"Alexa, ask Space Station for next pass for London" - this gets the next time you can see the ISS over a city of your choice.
"Alexa, ask Space Station for the next three passes for Liverpool" - this gets the next three passes for a city (you can use any number up to five).
"Alexa, ask Space Station where it is right now" - this will tell you where the ISS is right now.
"Alexa, ask Space Station who is on board" - this will give you a list of the crew members.
"Alexa, ask Space Station for the latest news" - this will tell you the latest news from the ISS blog.
"Alexa, ask Space Station to tell me a fact" - this will tell you an interesting fact about the space station.
