With the Amazon Echo device and the knXpresso App under Android, KNX data points can be operated or queried.
Lights and power outlets can be switched on and off or values for dimmers can be transmitted or queried. Temperature Inputs and outputs for the heating system are also possible. Of course one can activate scenes via the voice control. This means with the activation of a scene there are no limits of the control functions.
In the parameterization of the application, Amazon Echo texts can be defined for each operating element, which are then executed via a speech input using the Amazon Echo device.
In addition to the knXpresso App on a tablet with the operating system Android as of version 4.1.1 and an Amazon Echo hardware, no additional devices are required in an existing KNX home automation system (with IP interface).

Operating examples

Switching:
"Alexa, turn on living room"
"Alexa, turn off living room"

Set dimming values:
"Alexa, set living room to 50 percent"
"Alexa, brighten living room"
"Alexa, dim living room"
"Alexa, dim living room by 20 percent"
"Alexa, brighten kitchen by 30 percent"
"Alexa, dim kitchen to 25 percent"
"Alexa, brighten kitchen to 50 percent"

Temperature values for single room control:
“Alexa, set office to 68 degrees”
“Alexa, decrease office by 7 degrees”
“Alexa, increase living room by 5 degrees”
“Alexa, decrease living room"
“Alexa, increase kitchen"

Thermostat Query:
“Alexa, what is the temperature of the office?”
“Alexa, what is the temperature in the kitchen?”
“Alexa, what is the temperature in here?”
“Alexa, what is the temperature in the house?”
“Alexa, what is the living room set to?”
“Alexa, what is the thermostat set to?”



 
The names set in quotation marks are example identifiers. They are assigned to the corresponding data point in the parameter assignment via the ETS or knXpresso “Stand-Alone” tool.
