You can use this skill to check when your next London buses are due at your local bus stop(s).
Alexa Skills do not have access to your location, so you will need to setup your local bus stops (by setting the bus stop code or smscode and the direction of travel). The smscode can be found written on London bus stop signs, or you can find it using this website: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/live-bus-arrivals (see the Text Messages section). The only options for direction of travel are: north south east or west.
Example: To setup, say: "Alexa, tell London Buses to set north as 51232".
Once configured, you can then simply ask when your next bus is due going in a specific direction You can now mention your specific route number too (only if the route is made of numbers; eg "14"). A route with a letter (eg: "C3") won't yet work due to limitation in voice recognition.
Examples: "Alexa, ask London Buses when my next bus is going north" - this will read out all buses going north "Alexa, ask London Buses when the next 14 is going north" - this will only read out buses going north on route 14
You can also say the following: "Alexa, ask London Buses when my next bus is going north" "Alexa, ask London Buses for route 14 going north" "Alexa, tell London Buses to set 50220 as south" "Alexa, ask London Buses what my configuration is?" "Alexa, tell London Buses to reset my bus stops"
Shortcut to get bus information (after you've configured your bus stops): "Alexa, ask London Buses north" "Alexa, ask London Buses south" "Alexa, ask London Buses route 14 south" etc
Some important notes on this skill: If you are having trouble configuring your bus stops, please slow down your speech and speak clearly. I've received feedback and suggestions on this skill to be able to ask for buses to a place name (eg: "Alexa, ask London Buses when my next bus is going towards Wandsworth"). Unfortunately with today's voice recognition technology this is not yet possible. Why? Because you need to program every word that the skill could possibly understand, and it's just not possible to have every bus stop name or every place name. Sorry everyone, the technology just isn't here yet.
