Your mission is to land the Apollo 11 Lunar Module to the surface of the Moon. Alexa will help you by reading out your altitude and velocity. Houston Mission Control is also monitoring your descend using telemetry. The telemetry data is shown on your Alexa companion app or https://alexa.amazon.co.uk
HOW TO PLAY: You control the descent by throttling the rocket engine burn. "Burn 100" will give maximum 100% thrust and "Burn 0" will give you no thrust. You can use any value between 0 and 100 to control the descent velocity. You can also say "Burn 100 for 25 seconds" - this will continue burn at 100% thrust for 25 seconds.
The first game starts at 1000 meters with descent velocity of -50 meters/second. The maximum landing velocity is 5 meters/second and you have 75 seconds to complete the mission. You will be added on the Leader board with your cumulative score and ranking upon finishing the game. When you come back to play again, the game will announce your cumulative score and ranking.
CUMULATIVE SCORE: You will gain more points as you play this game. * First time users: +100 points * Crash landing, out of time or out of fuel: +50 points * At successful landing: +1000 points + int((fuel left/10.) + 100*(seconds) + 100* abs(5. - min(velocity, 5.)))
GAME LEVELS: * As your cumulative score increases, you will play at a higher Game Level * Game Level is your score divided by 1000, starting from level 1 * As a repeat user you start the game at altitude of Game Level * 1000 meters * As a repeat user you have Game Level * 75 seconds to complete the mission
PAUSE/RESUME: * You can pause the game and resume later * Say 'Pause' to save the game. * Say 'Resume' to restore from previously paused game.
LOW FUEL WARNING: * At game launch you have 8200 kg of propellant in the Lunar Lander tanks. As you issue burn commands, the propellant is consumed. * When the Lunar Lander propellant is below 5% you will get a low fuel warning.
TIPS: * Negative velocity means you are going down, positive velocity means you are gaining altitude * Moon's gravity on the surface is 1.625 m/s^2 - with zero burn your descent will accelerate by this amount each second * You can maximize your score by making a soft landing, and by optimizing your fuel and time usage to minimum. * Here is a tip to make a successful landing from 1000 meters: Burn 100 for 25 seconds, Burn 50 for 28 seconds, Burn 35 for 13 seconds and until you touch the surface.
ERRORS: * 1202 Program Alarm - You said "Burn <number>" - where computer doesn't recognize the <number> * 1201 Program Alarm - You said "Burn <number> for <duration> seconds" - where <duration> is larger than available time or negative or zero
WARNINGS: * 60 seconds warning from Houston Mission Control * 30 seconds warning from Houston Mission Control * 5% fuel remaining - low fuel warning shows in telemetry cards
