My Carer is an innovative skill built to support people in the early stages of dementia. The skill is created for both patients and loved ones. With My Carer they can set up daily tasks for the person living with dementia, enabling them to live more independently.

The skill supports the patient with step-by-step interactive guidance until each task is completed. My Carer for Amazon Alexa aims to give an affordable and convenient solution for people living with dementia, especially in the early stages of the disease. It's also intended to make life easier for carers and loved ones.
To setup your first task in My Carer follow these steps: 1. Go to https://www.mycarer.app and create an account 2. Enable this skill with reminder permissions and link to the account you created in step 1 3. To setup tasks, go to https://www.mycarer.app and sign in with the account you created in step 1 4. Go to "New Task" and choose between "Meal Preparation" and "Appointments" 5. Fill in all the information (e.g. where the patient can find the meal, how to prepare the meal) 5. In the last step, setup a date and time for a reminders of this task (e.g. every Monday at 18:00) 6. Invoke the skill once by saying "Alexa, open My Carer" and Alexa will explain the skill and ends by asking "Would you like me to check if there is anything to do now?" 7. Say "Yes" 8. Alexa will ask to setup reminders for your tasks by asking "Would you like me to remind you when these tasks are due?" 9. Say "Yes" 10. At the time of the reminder, Alexa will initiate the task with a voice notification (eg "Hi, it's time for your lunch")
Note that every task is initiated with a reminder. Without reminders you don't know when your tasks are due. In order to use the skill you must enable reminder permissions.
