The National Council for the Blind, Ireland (NCBI) is a national sight loss agency. NCBI aim to transform the lives of people who are blind or vision impaired.
ABOUT THE myNCBI SKILL:
Whether you are blind, low vision or know someone with a vision impairment you can use the myNCBI Skill access our information on sight loss and how the NCBI can be of help, answers to frequently asked questions on NCBI Services, sight Loss, treatments etc.
The myNCBI Skill also enables the requesting of referrals, call backs from the NCBI and provides access to media content such as podcasts, newsletters, and audio books.
You can stay connected to NCBI, accessing information and technology such as our audio library service, day to day living techniques, employment readiness, Mobility training etc.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
To use the myNCBI skill you must be 16+ years old and have an Amazon account. To access additional features, we recommend creating a myNCBI be account as well.
If you are new to the NCBI and do not have an Amazon account, please call us on 1800 911110 visit www.ncbi.ie or email labs@ncbi.ie to register or get support with creating your Amazon account. Please note when creating a new Amazon account, it is preferable to create it on www.amazon.co.uk

HOW DOES IT WORKS? The section below offers a few quick tips on how to navigate through the skill and which commands to use.
To launch the skill simply say: “Alexa, start myNCBI” (or) “Alexa, open myNCBI”
The list below are examples of some of the phrases that can be used while in the skill:
· "Alexa, what are the NCBI additional resources?" · "Alexa, what is NCBI Labs?" · "Alexa, information on Core Services." · "Alexa, I want to make an Appointment." · "Alexa, how can I make a Referral." · "Alexa, can you give me Eye Care Tips?" · "Alexa, I'd like to listen to a Magazine?" · "Alexa, what are the Children and Young person's services?" · "Alexa, how can I request a Call Back?" · "Alexa, tell me about Macular Degeneration Symptoms."
While listening to an audio book/ magazine Alexa will ask whether you would like to resume from the last title. Try some of these commands:
“Alexa, Play the magazine” “Alexa, Play episode from <magazine-name>” “Alexa, Play episode on <genre-name>” Media Controls
Pause the audio - Pause, Stop Resume the audio - Continue Playing, Resume Start again from the beginning - Start Over Next audio - Play next, Next audio, Next episode Previous audio - Play previous, Previous audio, Previous episode
