Welcome to the nCube Smart Home skill. To use this skill you will need an nCube hub set up and running in your home and the nCube app installed on your mobile or tablet. Make sure your hub and app are running the latest versions and make sure you have already set up all your devices within the nCube app. The nCube hub integrates many popular smart home products such as Nest, Tado, Philips Hue, WeMo and smart home devices that use the Z-Wave and Bluetooth radios. Check the nCube website for the latest list of supported devices.
Enable the skill and use your nCube username and password to then log into nCube. Next follow the prompt to Discover devices connected to the nCube hub. If you have some devices already connected via the skill for those devices (such as Hue) you’ll end up with the device listed twice - decide which skill you want the devices to connected to Alexa through.
Devices discovered by the nCube skill will have the name you created in the nCube app. If you rename the devices in nCube, or add new devices to nCube, remember to click Discover Devices in the Alexa app again to update the list.
Things you can try asking: Alexa, turn on the aquarium lights please. Alexa, set the living room to 25% please. Alexa, set the dining room to blue please. Alexa make the dining room light warmer please. Alexa make the dining room light softer please. Alexa make the dining room light cooler please. Alexa make the dining room light whiter please. Alexa, what is the bedroom thermostat set to? (ok, you don’t need to include ‘please’ but we think it’s good to be polite to Alexa or mum will shout at you).
Light colours supported (such as Hue) are Blue, Fuchsia, Lavender, Yellow, Orange, Red, Teal, Crimson, Gold, Lime, Pink, Salmon, Turquoise, Cyan, Green, Magenta, Purple, Sky Blue, Violet, White. And whites control are white, warm white, soft white, daylight, cool white.
We’re working on more skills controls so for the moment it’s not possible to run Cubes (aka scenes or routines), change Modes, change the thermostat temperature, control music or check the status of devices - watch out for a future update for all this and more.
