Welcome to Psychonovo, home of the conversational textbook, the textbook you can talk to. This is our first launch on Alexa and features interactive content on Psychology Research Ethics, from our Psychology Research Methods book.
Using Psychonovo.
Each topic is presented as a dialogue between the tutor and, you, the student. After presenting you with an idea, the tutor will ask you a question and you should respond. Sometimes, you just have to say the answer to a question, other times you need to listen to answers from three virtual students and then decide which one you agree with.
The Psychonovo approach is designed to be fun and engaging whilst making use of findings from psychological research to help you learn better, and more deeply, than with a normal textbook. Amongst the principles used, are:
• Active learning – having to answers regular questions on course content has been shown to boost understanding and retention of course content. • Immediate feedback – reinforces the study habit, and helps you correct misunderstandings. • Correcting misconceptions – learn to avoid the common pitfalls in a subject area. • Diagnosing and fixing errors – by questioning the thinking behind your answers, mistakes can be diagnosed and corrected • Social learning – our use of virtual peers gives you practice in listening to, and critically evaluating, different ideas.
Coming soon: More content on Psychology Research Methods will be released over the next couple of months. Check out Psychonovo.com for more information and to contact us!
