This Skill is used to provide Alexa control for smart home devices including, lights, switches, plugs, and thermostats.
The Skill requires a ‘SmartHome System’ or ‘Smart Lighting System’ from SmartHome Automations: https://smarthomeautomations.ie
Minimal requirements to use this Skill:
1. Purchase a SmartHome System or Smart Lighting System from https://smarthomeautomations.ie
2. Have a Unique Smart Home Instance URL – provided by SmartHome Automations.
3. Have an amazon (Alexa) account.
4. Account Linking
Account Linking:
Account linking will link the following details to allow Alexa Control for your Smart Home Instance. - SmartHome Instance URL - Long-Lived Access Token - Your Amazon Alexa email address
1. Log into your unique ‘Smart Home Instance’. This Unique URL along with a username and password is provided to SmartHome Automations Customers when they purchase a Smart Home product. Your instance URL will look something like https://abcdefghij.smarthomeautomations.ie/
2. Create a Long-Lived Access Token.
3. Visit the following URL: https://dev.demxmjqkr4d1s.amplifyapp.com/
4. Choose the method (a) or (b)
a. Clients should ‘Login with Amazon’ – using their existing Amazon account.
b. Sign up for a new account using your email address. Email verification is required. The email address used when signing up must match the email address used in your Amazon account.
5. Enter the Smart Home Instance Unique URL with the Unique Access Token.
6. Press “Save and Test”.
7. A success message will be returned.
8. Sign Out.
Enable the SmartHome Automations Skill
1. Log into Your Alexa Account on your mobile device. Alternatively, log in to your Alexa Account via the web app using your Amazon account credentials: https://alexa.amazon.co.uk/
2. Search for the ‘SmartHome Automations’ Skill.
3. Enable the Skill (Sign In with your Amazon account details if prompted).
Discover Devices 1. Add devices to Alexa: Navigate: Smart Home -> Device -> Discover
2. View discovered devices Navigate: Smart Home -> Devices
