With this skill you can create triggers for your Alexa routines and can activate these triggers by calling a URL. The URL can, for instance, be called in any regular web-browser, from a smartphone or within any script of software that allows you open URLs.
You start by creating triggers on http://www.virtualsmarthome.xyz/url_routine_trigger/. When you activate the URL Routine Trigger in your Alexa app and search for new devices, the triggers you previously created will show up a new smart home devices. You will be able to use these devices as triggers for virtually any routine.
You don't have to be a software developer for using this skill. However, if you are one, you will appreciate the power of this skill. You can use virtually any script or software you implemented for triggering your Alexa routines.
Please follow this step by step guide in order to use this skill:
1. Go to https://www.virtualsmarthome.xyz/url_routine_trigger/ and log in using your Amazon account.
2. Define one or more triggers on the website: Simply provide a name for your trigger, and you are done.
3. Install the URL Routine Trigger skill and log in with your Amazon account. When Alexa starts discovering new devices, the triggers you previously defined will be found. They will show up as doorbells.
4. Now, you can use these doorbells are triggers for your Alexa routines. When setting up a new routine, choose "When this happens", select "Smart Home" and pick one of your triggers. When you open one of the URLs for your triggers, the Alexa routine will be launched.
