I was the one who suggested the title Magalir Mattum because ‘Ladies Only’ buses were quite popular then and people would instantly connect to the subject of the film. l While developing the script, I got stuck at the point after they kidnap Nagesh’s dead body. Fortunately, I was doing a TV serial at that time in which my friend Ramanujam acted as a corpse. I got inspired from that and wrote this segment. Nagesh used to jokingly ask me to give him at least one dialogue. He brilliantly brought out the rigor mortis aspect of a corpse. The stunt choreographer, Vikram Dharma, wanted to provide a dummy for some of the risky shots but Nagesh insisted that he’d do the stunts by himself.
