This skill was designed as part of a study with aims to understand the effects of COVID-19 on adolescents' wellbeing. The study will explore the use of Amazon Alexa to alleviate some of the negative effects of social isolation, including loneliness. This skill was designed to test the feasibility of short conversations with adolescents (13+) in improving their mood. These conversations are based on techniques derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy modifications. These conversations are less than 5 minutes in length and support no more than 5 conversation turns. Currently, this skill supports 15 interactions related to mindfulness, humor, compassion, self-compassion and positivity.
This study is being conducted by researchers at the Pratt Institute in New York, USA.
