Cross Country is a game where you will be asked multiple-choice questions about a state's geography, famous people, historical battles, inventions, or famous firsts as you drive through the state on a road trip from the east coast to the west coast of the United States. Your game host will choose the east coast state where you will begin and designate which west coast state will be your destination. It will be up to you to choose adjacent states to reach your final destination. You may also select how difficult the questions will be ranging from easy to regular to hard.
To advance in the game:
If you choose the easy difficulty level, you must answer at least one easy question correctly, to complete the state. If you choose the regular difficulty level, you must answer one easy question and one regular question correctly, to complete the state. If you choose difficult, you must answer one regular and one difficult question correctly, to complete a state. When you reach your west coast destination state, you will need to answer one easy, one regular, and one difficult question, to complete the game. At any time during the game, If you answer three questions incorrectly in a state before you have answered the required number of questions correctly, you will be penalized and sent back east of your current location to a state you have not completed.
Hazards:
You may experience a vehicle mishap requiring roadside assistance or a natural disaster, such as a tornado, hailstorm, or wildfire, on your trip through a state. You will be offered the opportunity to purchase disaster insurance that protects you from random penalties caused by these events. If you purchase disaster insurance, you will not need to purchase it, again whenever you play Cross Country for the period of one year.
Bypassing some of the states:
When you begin each game and complete your first east coast state, you will have the opportunity, to purchase a one-use-only airline ticket to the state of Missouri, effectively by-passing, all states east of that location.
