Founded by Arthur F. Edes (an Emerson professor of broadcasting and WEEI radio program director) and developed with help from Professor Charles William Dudley, WERS was the first non-commercial radio station in New England, operating since November 1949.
WERS 88.9 is a commercial-free, listener-supported station, broadcasting from Emerson College to Boston and beyond. We are student-run, and together with the guidance of a professional staff, we produce award-winning programs. The station has consistently been referred to as one of the most highly rated and critically acclaimed college radio station in the nation!
