Now you can use your voice to control your Fios set-top boxes!
When you enable this skill you can ask Alexa to pause and play recordings, change the channel, search for TV shows by name, find movies, actors, premium subscription programs or anything else you want to watch.
Alexa is learning new commands all the time!
To get started, press the “D” key on your Fios remote for the set-top box you want to pair your Alexa device with. The name of that set top box will appear in the bottom right of your TV screen. Select “Enable Skill “and then pick the device name that matches, when prompted. For more detailed setup information, visit www.verizon.com/support/residential/tv/equipment/alexa
Once you’ve linked to Alexa to your Fios set-top boxes, try these commands To change the channel: “Alexa, go to NBC.” “Alexa, change to Channel 899. “ “Alexa, switch to CNN.”
To search for something to watch: “Alexa, search for the Big Bang Theory.” “Alexa, find me movies starring Robert Downey Jr.” “Alexa, play Star Trek.”
To control playback from your DVR or On- Demand selection: “Alexa, pause.” “Alexa, play.” “Alexa, fast forward.” “Alexa, rewind 30 seconds.”
Supported Fios set-top boxes: VMS 1100 IPC 1100
Fios Set Top Boxes Not Supported: QIP series set-top boxes (2xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx), CHSxxx, DCT700, and MCARD/SCARD)
