Your wish is our command. With Geeni and Alexa, you can now interact with your Geeni smart home devices by voice.
You can simply ask Alexa to turn on, turn off, dim your lights, or turn smart plugs on or off. You can also group multiple devices together into a "Living Room" group and say “Alexa, turn on living room”.
To get started, select the “Enable Skill” button in the Alexa App to link your Geeni account, and say “Alexa, discover devices”. Find more information about connecting Smart Home devices at http://tinyurl.com/alexa-smart-home
To tell Alexa which device to control, use the names you set up already in the Geeni app, or create an Alexa group, like "Bedroom" or "Downstairs", and add the device to the group. More information is available at http://tinyurl.com/alexa-smart-home-groups
Once you know the name or group of your devices, you can say commands like these: “Alexa, discover my devices.” “Alexa, turn on the bedroom light.” “Alexa, turn off the bedroom light.” “Alexa, set the bedroom light to 50%.” “Alexa, brighten the bedroom light.” “Alexa, dim the bedroom light to 25%.” “Alexa, set bedroom light to red.” “Alexa, set bedroom light to cool white.”
Here’s a step by step guide: (1). Download our "Geeni" app in Google Play or the iOS App Store; (2). Register a new account in the "Geeni" app (or log in if you’re already registered); (3). Connect the Geeni smart devices and use the “Geeni” app to configure them; (4). IMPORTANT: You can rename your devices in the Geeni app, and Alexa will refer to them by the same name. So if you rename a smart bulb to “Living Room” or give it a nickname like “Blossom”, then Alexa will use that same name or nickname later on; (5). If your Echo device is not configured yet, download the Amazon "Alexa" app from the Amazon Appstore, Google Play or the iOS App Store and follow the instructions given by the app; (6). Search the Alexa Skills directory for "Geeni" and select it, the skill’s detail card will open; (7). Click “Enable skill” and you'll be navigated to a login page; (8). Input your account username and password, you'll be redirected to the success page; (9). Now the setup is finished. You can interact with the skill using the commands described above.
Note: When connecting the smart surge protector, Alexa will only recognize devices after you have renamed each device in the Geeni app from “Socket #” to a custom name.
Currently, this skill supports the Geeni smart plugs and smart bulbs. If you have any problems, please contact us at support@merkuryinnovations.com.
