The Geophysical Alert Briefing provides information about the current conditions for long distance HF radio communications. It is of particular interest to Amateur Radio operators. This briefing is heard hourly at 18 minutes past the hour on the National Institute of Standards and Technology radio station WWV and 45 minutes past the hour on radio station WWVH. The briefing is generated from data supplied by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center. The alerts are issued every three hours at 0000, 0300, 0600, 0900, 1200, 1500, 1800 and 2100 hours UTC and this briefing is updated approximately 10 minutes after the top of the reporting hour. The report includes the Solar Flux as measured at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in Kaleden, BC, the planetary A index, the planetary K index and summary of recent and forecast activity for the next 24 hours.
