Quick Actions (Scenes)
Quick Actions created in the Hive app can be controlled with Alexa. You’ll find them in the Scenes section of the Alexa app.
Alexa, turn on quick cool everywhere (where your Quick Action is named “quick cool everywhere”)
Alexa, activate bedtime (where your Quick Action is named “bedtime”)
Additional Features
You’ll need to say “Alexa, ask Hive…” for these to work.
Quick Heat / Quick Cool
Alexa, ask Hive to enable Quick Heat / Quick Cool
Alexa, ask Hive to start Quick Heat / Quick Cool at 68 degrees for 90 minutes
Alexa, ask Hive to set Quick Heat / Quick Cool in the living room
Alexa, ask Hive to cancel Quick Heat / Quick Cool
Alexa, ask Hive to end Quick Heat / Quick Cool in the living room
Alexa, ask Hive how long has Quick Heat got left to run
Alexa, ask Hive to check the remaining duration for Quick Cool
When using the skill, you’ll need to specify the name of the device, group or quick action (scene) you want to control. You can easily rename these in the Hive app. Using simple names, such as “Living Room” or “Kitchen”, will work best with Alexa. If you make any changes, remember to ask Alexa to “discover devices”.
Troubleshooting
If you have any problems controlling your Hive devices with Alexa, try these steps to get things working again.
- Check the names of your devices. Avoid using names that Alexa might find difficult to understand. It’s also best to have unique names for each device.
- Ask Alexa to “discover devices”. You can also do this in the Alexa app.
- If you’re still having issues, try disabling and re-enabling the skill.
In order to use Hive with Alexa, you’ll need:
- A Hive account with your username and password.
- A Hive Hub or Hub 360.
- One or more of the following Hive devices: Hive Active Thermostat, Hive Light or Hive Plug.
