IFTTT.com (If This Then That) is a free service that allows you to created automated tasks, combining conditions (If) and actions (that) from email, text, social media accounts, smart home devices and sensors.
The IFTTTrigger skill expands what IFTTT can do, by enabling an IFTTT automated task to run an Alexa Routine. With IFTTTrigger, any of the 600+ services on IFTTT.com can be part of an Alexa Routine.
A somewhat geeky skill for Smart Home DIYers to tinker with.
Getting Started: 1. In your Alexa app, search for and enable the IFTTTrigger skill. Your Amazon account information is all you need. 2. After successfully linking, Alexa will discover devices of type "virtual Trigger for IFTTT". 3. In Alexa, begin creating your Alexa Routine. 4. Under the "When this happens" section, choose one of the IFTTT triggers listed under Smart Home in Step 2. 5. Go to IFTTT.com and begin creating your applet. 6. In IFTTT, under the "That" menu, search for AlexaActions. 7. Link the AlexaActionsByMkzense Service to IFTTT using your Amazon credentials. 8. Set the Trigger name to the same as that in Step 2. 9. Done
