With the OCTO Casambi Gateway Skill, you can now interact with your Casambi enabled devices, turn Casambi lighting groups on and off and select scenes or lighting levels. Compatible with Casambi smart lighting technology, OCTO Casambi Gateway is a smart device designed to allow Amazon Alexa to communicate directly with Casambi enabled luminaires and devices.
OCTO CASAMBI GATEWAY FEATURES
By using the OCTO Casambi Gateway with this skill you can now control your Casambi devices using Alexa and take advantage of the thousands of other skills at your fingertips, further enhancing the OCTO experience. It provides users with full voice and remote control with optimal connectivity across all smart products.
The OCTO Casambi Gateway Skill is only compatible with the OCTO Casambi Gateway, but can control all of the other Casambi devices which are on the same network as the gateway. In order to use this skill, you will need to have your Casambi network already set up and have your user details to hand.
Note that all the normal functionality is still available via your existing Casambi App, but by combining this skill with your OCTO Casambi Gateway you can now add voice commands and integrate your Casambi devices with other Alexa skills.
OCTO CASAMBI GATEWAY SETUP
It’s easy to set up the OCTO Casambi Gateway Skill, simply follow these 3 simple steps:
Step One - Add your OCTO Casambi Gateway to your Casambi network
* Connect your OCTO Casambi Gateway to your network or router using the supplied Ethernet cable. Then plug in the power supply provided with your OCTO Casambi Gateway. Cloud service configuration is automatic and is complete when the front panel light alternates between blue and magenta.
* Open the Casambi App on your mobile or tablet, then either follow the prompt for adding 'Nearby Devices' or add through the 'Add Devices' option. Note that this device will be listed under 'Gateways'. Casambi network setup is complete when the front panel light is blue.
Step Two - Link the gateway to your Casambi and Amazon Accounts
Visit the following link in your web browser and fill in the Casambi network information when requested. This process may be repeated multiple times if more than one OCTO Casambi Gateway is to be associated with the same Amazon account.
Step Three - Import your devices into your Alexa account
From the Alexa app, select the 'Devices' tab and then the '+' sign in the top right corner. Select 'Add Device' and scroll to the bottom of the list and select 'Other'. Your Casambi network scenes and lighting groups will now be imported into your Alexa account.
USING THE OCTO CASAMBI GATEWAY SKILL
Your Casambi lighting groups will automatically be imported as lighting devices within the Alexa app. To work effectively with the Alexa voice commands, the Casambi lighting groups should have easily pronounceable names such as 'Office' or 'Boardroom'
You can now use Alexa to turn lights on or off. For example, by saying “Alexa, turn on the office lights”.
You can also use Alexa to set the lighting level. For example, by saying “Alexa, dim the boardroom lights to 20%”.
Your Casambi scenes will automatically be imported as scenes within the Alexa app. To work effectively with the Alexa voice commands, the Casambi scenes should have easily pronounceable names such as 'Presentation' or 'Relaxation'.
You can now use Alexa to activate your Casambi scenes. For example, by saying “Alexa, turn on the presentation scene”.
