Optoma SmartProjection for Smart Home Skill allows control of Optoma Alexa Enabled Projectors using Amazon’s Alexa. Looking for the remote control on movie night is now a thing of the past. Want to turn on the Projector? Simply say, “Alexa, turn on living room”. Want to turn up the volume? “Alexa, turn up the volume by 1 on living room”.

SmartProjection for Smart Home also supports voice commands for switching the Input Source (HDMI1, HDMI 2 and Home Screen/Multimedia) and control of the 4K HDR USB Media Player (Play, Pause, REW, FF, Next, Previous, Start-over).

Before enabling SmartProjection for Smart Home Skill, please ensure that you have completed the Optoma Device Registration and Device Setup using the Optoma SmartProjection App, available for iOS, Android and Amazon Fire OS or view/download the Alexa Setup Guide at http://www.optoma.com/support/download.

Smart Home Skill Voice Commands

**4K UHD/1080p USB Media Player commands**

*The play command is the only command that can be used from the Home Screen or while using another input. Using the play command while using HDMI 2 (for example) will result in a change of input – the media player will launch, and file playback will begin.
**Next, Previous, FF, REW, Stop, Pause and Start Over commands can ONLY be used during playback of media content and or while the 4K UHD HDR Media Player is open.

"Alexa, play on living room" (playback will begin with first video or audio file on the USB disk/drive).

Troubleshooting:
-- Issue #1: Unable to power-on Projector using “Alexa, turn on living room”.
Possible Solution 1: Ensure that “Full Power Active” is enabled. Press menu button on remote. Go to “Projector Settings > Power Settings > Power Mode (Standby)” – select “Full Power Active”.

-- Issue #2: Alexa does not respond to commands.

Possible Solution 1: Confirm the alias name. Go to Mydevices in the Optoma SmartProjection App or go to https://mydevices.optoma.com.

Possible Solution 2: Ensure ALL devices (Echo and Projector) are on the same network.

Possible Solution 3: If you generated another pair code AFTER the initial setup, you will need to remove the projector from Mydevices and setup again (add serial number, pair code and chose an alias). See Setup Guide in SmartProjection App or visit the Mydevices website (https://mydevices.optoma.com).

-- Issue #3: Unable to select specific files on USB Drive using voice commands.

Possible Solution: Alexa does not support “file names” therefore when the “play” command is used, playback will start with the very first file (video or audio) on the USB Drive. To navigate, simply use the “previous” and “next” commands to play the previous file or next file on the drive.
