NOTE: Currently, Ring of Support is only available to select home care clients at SE Health for a pilot study.
What is Ring of Support? Ring of Support is an intelligent, personalized, and multimodal digital engagement platform using the Alexa Voice Assistant, home telephones, and mobile messaging. It is a digital health program developed by MEMOTEXT, a leader in digital patient engagement. With Ring of Support, older adults can live independently for longer in the comfort of their own home while caregivers can find peace of mind by keeping track of how their care recipients are doing on a daily basis.
Please visit: www.ringofsupport.com to learn more about the program and www.memotext.com to find out more about the creators.
How do I use Ring of Support? To begin using Ring of Support, home care clients must have their profiles first set up by Admin staff during which communication preferences are selected. Ring of Support can provide daily morning and evening check-ins as well as custom medication and event reminders that serve as memory aids. To change, update, or add any communications, Admin staff or a caregiver can access a home care client's profile through the Ring of Support portal, if permission has been obtained during the enrolment process.
As a home care client, you must first connect the skill to your profile. Once the skill is enabled and notifications have been turned on, launch Ring of Support and register using your phone number. You will then be welcomed into the program and are now ready to start receiving your check-ins and reminders.
What will the skill do? When you have a message from Ring of Support, you will receive a push notification and your device may glow yellow; you can then listen to your notification and open the skill to arrive at your inbox to hear more details about your message (which will be a check-in or reminder). Currently, all communications from the program are outbound - you do not need to reach out to Ring of Support, it will reach out to you.
How is my caregiver and/or care provider involved in Ring of Support? Your care provider and/or caregiver may be informed if you: miss your check-ins/medication reminders or request for them to contact you at a later time. Ring of Support should NOT be used if you are experiencing an emergency or a life-threatening situation. Please seek immediate medical assistance if such a situation occurs.
How do I remove myself from the program? If you wish to unsubscribe from the program at any time, please ask the skill to “unsubscribe".
Notice Ring of Support may provide your health information to health care providers to monitor your health. The content and responses collected from interacting with this skill may thus be available to any individual using your Alexa device(s). In order to protect your privacy, your Ring of Support interaction history and/or activity cards will not be made viewable in the Alexa App.
