Your favorite entertainment is just a few words away. Ask Alexa to find movies and shows, pause, launch channels, and more on your Roku devices.
Examples of how you can use Alexa to control media playback on your Roku devices:
“Alexa, pause on kitchen Roku” “Alexa, launch Hulu on living room Roku”* ** “Alexa, go home on office Roku” “Alexa, find documentaries on bedroom Roku”
If you have a Roku TV, you can also ask Alexa to do things like:
“Alexa, turn on kitchen Roku”*** “Alexa, turn up the volume on living room Roku” “Alexa, mute on office Roku” “Alexa, change to channel 5.1 on bedroom Roku”**** “Alexa, switch to HDMI 2 on living room Roku”
* Using Alexa voice commands to launch Netflix on your Roku device is not available at this time. ** Launching a channel on your Roku device using Alexa works for 100+ channels on the Roku platform. Not all channels are supported at this time. *** You must have Fast TV Start enabled on your Roku TV to use Alexa voice commands to turn on your TV. **** You must have an HDTV antenna connected to your Roku TV to use Alexa voice commands to change channels on your TV tuner.
How to get started:
It’s easy to use Alexa to control media playback on your Roku devices. Just follow these steps:
1.) Click “Enable” at the top of this skills page to begin setup. 2.) A new web browser tab will open. Log into your Roku account using your Roku login credentials. 3.) After login, select the Roku devices you'd like to control with Alexa from the list of devices available. Check 'select all' if you wish to link all of your Roku devices listed. 4.) Close the web tab when prompted. 5.) You should now see a "Device Discovery" screen. Let this complete. 6.) You will see one or more "Roku" devices on the screen. Select one and continue. (If you are not able to select a “Roku” device you may need to tap on “Manage Devices” in the Roku Skill home screen in the Alexa app to complete this step.) 7.) Next, select the Amazon device(s) you want to enable for controlling your Roku device(s). 8.) You should now see a screen with "Your linked Devices". And that’s it! You can now use Alexa to control your Roku device. 9.) You can repeat steps 6 to 8 to link any additional Roku devices that you would like to control with Alexa.
NOTE: If you previously set up the Roku skill for Amazon Alexa to control a single Roku device, and are now trying to link additional Roku devices to the skill, you'll need to disable and re-enable the skill using the steps below:
1.) Launch the Alexa App on your phone 2.) From the drop down menu, select Skills & Games 3.) Find and select the Roku skill 4.) Click "Disable Skill" 5.) On the next screen, click "Disable" 6.) Next, click "Enable to Use" 7.) Complete the account linking process 8.) When prompted, press "Select all" to enable all of your Roku devices to be linked to your Roku skill for Amazon Alexa, or you can choose to select only those devices you want to link to the skill
You must have a supported Roku device running Roku OS 8.1 or above and a Roku account to use this skill.
