Roomskills Squeezebox Player - this skill plays your music from your Logitech Media Server on your Amazon Echo Speakers.
The Skill requires an account on Roomskills.com and a Logitech Media Server (if necessary a server can be ordered on our Roomskills.com Shop).
the basic package of Roomskills, which requires a small yearly fee. Then a small configuration on the Roomskills website and a running Logitech Media Server for the skill is all you need to play music from the Logitech Media Server.
After the activation of the skill you are offered a free testing period to test the skill and all our other products for a month. Then you open the service on our website and after a small configuration all you need to do is to call the skill and the Echo speaker will appear as a new player on your music server. Then you can use your favorite app or the Logitech Media Server web user interface to control the music that is played on the Echo speaker. Unfortunately the Echo speakers natively reacts with a delay to the changes on the server. Just by using the voice command 'Alexa Play' after the changes on the server, the Echo player will pick up the changes right away.
If you want to use a different word to activate the player you can define a routine in the Alexa app and connect it with opening the skill. This way you can use any command to start the skill and stream from your Logitech Media Server.
Unfortunately the Echo players do not work well in a multiroom set up together with native Logitech Media Server or squeezelite players. But you can of course use Alexa Mutiroom Audio groups with other Echo speakers and play music using the skill.
One additional remark: This skill is not intended to play music from the Logitech Media Server using voice commands. You can use our skill Roomskills Musiccontrol for this. We have also a skill to control Logitech Media Server players via voice commands. Just look for the skill Roomskills Musiccontrol LMS.
