TWO LEADING BLIND CHARITIES TEAM UP TO PROVIDE FREE, EASY ACCESS TO LOCAL NEWS
National charity British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) and The Talking News Federation (TNF) have joined forces once again to bring together local Talking Newspapers from across the UK.
This skill features over 200 regional Talking Newspapers, making it easier than ever to keep up with what’s going on in your own community, or in areas where you may have friends or family.
Almost every area of the UK is covered, but if you can’t find a newspaper in your area let us know. We will reach out to your local talking newspaper to see if they can be added.
We don't require any personal information from you and no permissions or account linking required. This is free to use for both you and the individual talking newspapers, whilst no need to subscribe to anything.
All of the content comes from the individual talking newspapers or organizations, therefore the audio quality and duration may vary. The content covers a variety of local newspapers and some magazine material that should be suitable for everyone.
The skill is simple to use, just ask for a UK town, city, or County, this will bring the nearest publications to the location you choose. Just ask for the one you want to hear.
Once playing you can ask next or previous for the next and previous tracks, when available.
This first version brings a simple reflection that we hope to build upon. To support this we would very much like to hear from you so that together BWBF and TNF can make this skill stronger.
We would suggest that you do not use the review section or the "report problem" button to report that your local talking newspaper is not yet available, or for any audio quality or production issues with a particular edition. Third-party content is outside our immediate control, but if you have any questions, suggestions, or problems, you will get a quick reply by emailing info@blind.org.uk or talk to us on 01622 760 709. We can then make any changes
