We have a family tradition during Advent. In December we place Christmas symbols on a wall-hanging picturing a tree, the Jesse Tree. With each passing day, the tree is filled with ornaments that tell the story of God’s promise to send a Messiah, the Savior. Why is it called the Jesse Tree? Isaiah predicted that the Messiah would come forth from the family tree of King David (whose father was Jesse.) Jesus, the Branch of the Tree, will bring peace to the nations and "the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea."
