Q-Codes or Q-signals are a three letter shorthand for common ham radio expressions used on the air. Many Q-Codes relate to CW (continous wave). They are sepecially useful in Morse code. Often in phone (voice communication) they are considered a bit to much like jargon and are discouraged. They are helpful when used between ham's that don't speak a common language.
