This companion skill provides the necessary voice activation support for monitoring inactivity using routines and compatible motion detection devices.
"Alexa, ask my careringer monitor to set time to monitor for 2 hours." If no activity is detected by a connected Blink Camera in the next 2 hours, the CareRinger Monitor will start a check-in call to make sure nothing went wrong.
To monitor inactivity continuously, 2 routines are created using custom actions from this skill. These routines are executed very time the motion sensor detects an activity
1) A first routine triggers the CareRinger service so that a check in call will start when the time to monitor expires. To implement, the action "ask my careringer monitor to set time to monitor for {a time duration}" is added to the end of this routine, where {a time duration} is the number of hour or minute allowed to wait for the next activity to occur.
2) A second routine monitors the activity and remove all pending calls, if any, when motion is detected. To implement, the action "ask my careringer monitor to check in" is added to the end of this routine to suppress any check in calls.
For information about creating Alexa routines and using Blink Camera to trigger the routines, please refer to Alexa documentation on line.
All utterances and verbose responses are included here for testing purposes. You can say Alexa, "ask my careringer monitor" to start a conversation with Alexa. It will let you know if you have any pending check-in calls and ask you what to do if there is one or more pending. You can cancel the timer by saying "check in". This is equivalent to removing all the pending check-in calls and resetting the monitor timer to its original state. (CareRinger also provides a device which turns on a light while it's monitoring for inactivity.)
In addition, you can also schedule a check-in call anytime. Just say, "Alexa, ask my monitor to set time to monitor for {duration time}". Or initialte a call by saying" Alexa, ask my careringer monitor to call now”. CareRinger will call to check in at the time of your choosing. Your designated contact(s) will be notified when the check-in call are not answered.
Please look for another version of this skill that runs with some of the responses suppressed in a non-verbose environment.
