Let’s Touch Base is a Skill to help you stay connected with your friends and family even though you may be hundreds of miles apart. Life is full of changes. Many of them result in our losing touch with the friends and relatives with whom we’ve shared many special moments. And while we intend to remain in contact, one thing or another may get in the way, and you forget to reach out. Let’s Touch Base was designed to help you maintain those important relationships. With Let’s Touch Base you enter the first and last names of your contacts along with the date you wish to touch base with them and a few topics you will want to cover. Then you can ask Let’s Touch Base to give you your touch base schedule for however many weeks in the future that you’d like to check. It will let you reschedule the date you plan to reach out to your contact. Once you touch base with one of your contacts, you can log that call, text, or email conversation in Let’s Touch Base along with the date when you want to chat again and any topics you’ll want to cover then. You can also ask for a quick summary or recap of a previous conversation. Because you log the dates when you wish to reach out to your contacts, when you open it, Let’s Touch Base will alert you if today is the day when you had planned to speak with someone or whether you missed making any calls you had previously scheduled. You can also set reminders that Alexa will give you to remind you to access Let’s Touch Base so you can stay on track. Anytime you are using Let’s Touch Base you can hear the details of how to access each of these functionalities by saying, “Alexa, help,” and subsequently see it printed in the Activity section of the Alexa App on your smartphone. Here are more detailed instructions for using these key functionalities:
1. You start by logging contacts by saying, "Log a contact." You’ll be asked to give a first name, spell the last name, give the date you next wish to contact them, and use three opportunities to log some of the topics you hope to discuss. 2. To reschedule the date you want to touch base you need your list of contacts. You get that by saying, "Reschedule my call." You will then hear a numbered list of your current contacts and be told that in order to reschedule one of them, you need to refer to it by its number in the list and say, ”Reschedule number one,” for example. You’ll then be asked to provide the new date you plan to touch base with that contact. 3. Similarly, to log your interaction with one of your contacts, you start with the numbered list of contacts by saying, "Log my call." Then you’ll be asked to refer to the contact number of the contact whose conversation you wish to log by saying, ”Log my call with contact number two,” for example. After that, you’ll be asked to specify the date of your conversation, respond to three opportunities to briefly summarize the topics you discussed during the call, specify the date when you want to reach out to this contact again and use three opportunities to briefly log topics you will want to cover during the next interaction. 4. You can hear your schedule for the number of weeks in advance that you specify by saying, "Tell me my touch base schedule for the next three weeks," for example. 5. You can hear all your contacts by saying, "Tell me my contact list." 6. You can hear a recap of a previous conversation by saying, "Give me a recap of my call." 7. You can set a reminder to be reminded to revisit Let’s Touch Base with any number of weeks between reminders that you wish. You say, "Set a reminder" to start the process. 8. If you missed what was said, you can say, "Repeat" to hear the information again. For many, maintaining contact with their friends and relatives may not be a challenge, but for those of us who have lost touch, Let’s Touch Base may help us stay connected with those who matter. I hope you enjoy using Let’s Touch Base and I look forward to your feedback.
